SOME COMMENTS ON THE 2011 SHOW:

Hi Colin
I attended with friends again this year after a brilliant time last year, and was very pleased that the forums were a lot easier to attend, which was difficult in 2010, so a big well done and thanks for listening.
Once again we purchased quite a few bits and pieces, and had to make more than a couple of trips back to the car!!

Again the routes into and away from the venue were well planned, with very little queuing time.
I don’t know how you managed to top 2010, but certainly did, and my friends and I are already planning our 2012 visit and will definitely need more than the one vehicle.
Once again congratulations on a superb event.
Bob Hammond

Dear Vince,
Having been to thousands of Exhibitions and exhibited all over the world I was so impressed with your Fishing exhibition.
Organization was first class. The way we were treated as stand occupiers was excellent nothing was too much trouble.

Good vehicle stickers ,parking near so you get at your stock, excellent security.
And last but not least the numbers of people came as you promised,
All in all a well run show and I wish you all the success for the future,

THE COMMENTS ON THE 2010 SHOW :

Hi.just like to say had a great time over the weekend, VIP bags excellent far better than last years, spent too much money well so the wife says but how can you not under the circumstances, my only grip was that there was no SBS stand i fieldtest for them and was hoping to see des and andy but when arrived they were not listed? was there a reason for that? apart from that had an excellent time again roll on next year, oh and even those he was not mentioned coming i bumped into terry hearn there saturday great chat great guy. regards glen houston

Dear Vince

Congratulations to you and the Fishface team for delivering another incredible "Big & Better One" this weekend-and a great big thank you for your continued support for groups like the Angling Trust, ECHO and Stoney & Friends in particular.

Thanks to you (and the commitment of the voluntary teams associated to each group) we secured another 50 members for the Angling Trust and just under £2500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Perhaps most importantly, the Big One provides a priceless opportunity to create awareness, build networks, receive feedback and deliver information to a huge captive audience.

Thanks again

Ruth

hi vince and colin  just a quick note to say thank you for a great weekend carnt wait till next year have started making rigs already  we arrived back in blackpool totally knackered but what a weekend to remember     thanks  again   ade & jan connor

I know its a bit late in the year, but, I would just like to say a huge thank you and big well done for a brilliant show earlier this year. Both myself and the wife had never been before so we had no idea what to expect. The wife was very impressed with all of the stalls and the guests as they took the time talk to her as well and not to treat her as a fishermans poor wife.  Can't wait to get back next year.

Thanks for a fantastic memory

It was mine and my mates first fishing exhibition, we loved it the lay out was brilliant , the fox match bag of goodies was well worth the £25 ticket, the food was good, cant wait till next year Thanks a lot had a good day out.

Steve

Hi guys
Great show, the first for me since NEC a few years oag.
Only one very small point, the seminar theatre was predomonately for carp fishing, a bit more general course - match would have been appreciated

Dave

Colin,
I visited the big one on the saturday as as per usual was not dissapointed. The show just seems to get better and better each year. It seems a little over whelming standing talking tackle with the legend that is Bob James, and tactics with the man of the moment korda's danny fairbrass. Its now more than just a tackle fair, being able to meet angling stars is a dream come true. Plus I did get some real bargins.
Many thanks.
Aaron Chuck.

Hi Colin

What a fabulous day on Saturday, a friend and I visited the big one,so much
to choose from!! We ended up going back to the car a couple of times, arms
laden with goods. The only disappointments being; 1) Not being able to get
in to see Danny and the Korda team presentation ( very popular),  and 2)
having to go home, eventually!!

The routes both to and from the motorway, were very well thought out with
very little congestion.

Well done to you and your team for organising such a spectacular. Can't
wait for next year (although I may need to do some extra saving and more
around the house as penance)

Kind Regards

Bob Hammond MBICSc

Just thought I'd leave some comments regarding this years show.

Been coming to the sale/shows for some years now & its become a yearly pilgrimage for me & my mates,I always have a list of items to buy as I know I can get whatever I want at knockdown prices. The venue has excellent parking facilites & very well sign posted. Could have done with a bit more sea fishing related stands/tackle.

My only gripe about the whole show was the food prices, £5 for a roast pork baguette & £2 for a fizzy drink !! very expensive when you have 2 teenage kids with you !!!

apart from that, another superb show & I've already started my list of want items for 2011, I always forget something !

regards Richard

Hello Colin,

I hope you are the person to who this message can be addressed.

I was involved with exhibition industry for more years than I care to remember as a contractor so I do have some experience with the way that shows are organized and their layout.

The Big One, this year in the main was well attended and that is due to your excellent publicity promotions.

If I could just say that the layout of the show around the outside walls was not up to the same standard.

As a punter I was lost in a sea of tables, boxes, products all over the place.

The aisles were not clear as to where you were supposed to walk, so I was at times the wrong side of the tables and mixed up in the middle of things. As a result I am sure I missed a lot of the goods that were not displayed very well as a result.

The centre layout was much better as they were constructed with proper stand materials that formed proper aisles and gave you some direction.

I thought the constant tanoy announcement at the start of the show to stall holders, to pack there sales with security tags should have been given in there holders pack. This did make me for one feel that I was nothing more than a petty pilferer guilty or not on a day out.

Finally, as usual the catering, well what can you say. Unclean tables, rubbish all over the shop to few waste bins, and no visible staff to clean down the used tables for the next customers. Why o why do use Brits have to put up with this standard of catering, is it beyond the organizers remit to make sure that the caterers supply ample clean tables and chairs etc.

If I may make a suggestion on the seating for their catered guests, could they not have picnic style tables lined up in rows at right angles to their serving counter? This I think would make them easier to maintain and use by the public.

The problem with garden furniture is that if two people (or one) sit at a table that removes it from service as it were; as people feel they are imposing if someone is already using that table.

If not picnic tables then show folding display tables and benches laid out in rows the same. That way the punters move down in between the rows to the next available gap right of left of the seating aisles.

I think the one thing that lets an exhibition down is the comfort provided for a lunch stop and just to take the weight off your feet.

Other than this not a bad day out.

Many thanks,

Bob...
